Gotta try something new.

Gotta try something new.

Photographs by dear mom (she’s going pro..)

(Topshop Midi wrap skirt, Sandals and sunglasses, American Apparel black bodysuit, H&M jewellery.)

Finally I’m back to Hong Kong! After two months of intense traveling and adapting to different climates, I’m now ready to settle down : ) I can finally concentrate on the blog again : ) Some new things are coming up such as giveaways and maybe… a blogshop? I don’t know yet, but at least I can afford to work on those now.

If you love Topshop you’ll recognise the print of this skirt at first glance. It has this elegant lady-like silhouette, which is flattering to many body types,Β  but when it moves it’s very revealing. The sandals are my absolute favourite, I love chunkiness on my feet : P (They are kinda difficult to walk in though). Hope you’ll like this one.

Runway inspirations

(From left: Yves Saint Laurent SS2011; Michael Kors SS2011, Roland Mouret SS2011)

YSL’s figure-hugging pencil skirts with a flamengo twist; drappy jersey dress with a side slit and leather stripes platform sandals from Michael Kors SS2011; Roland Mouret’s mid-calf pencil skirt with a bold print.

All from Jonathan Saunders’ Fall Collection 2011, to see the complete collection click here.

I’m having a serious crash on Jonathan Saunders’ Fall collection! All these sophisticated use of bold colours and abstract prints,Β  side-slitted sexiness versus below-the-knee formality remind me of a bright young woman, who isΒ  intimadatingly elegant but also witty and flirty (if you’re lucky). Every piece is to die for : o

  1. That skirt is really nice! And so is your overall look! I don’t tend to gravitate towards chunky shoes, and they look perfect with the outfit here.

In response to your question, some of the looks in Kor’s Spring 2011 show were nice, but they were ruined by the flatforms he had the models wearing (I know you’re wearing them, but as I said, they look nice with your outfit). Other outfits were just too “frumpy”, and the models’ silhouette was completely lost under the very loosely tailored pieces. It was an altogether too relaxed aesthetic for a label like Kors. I probably didn’t like the collection more because of personal preferences, as I know many others quite enjoyed it.

  2. I want your sunnies. I spotted something similar when I was in H&M Beijing last month but I didn’t buy it cos it was RMB100…and I already had a pair of sunnies in Singapore…but now I kind of regret now buying it.

I also regret not buying that pair of RMB199 Zara ankle boots. Bleh.

Anyway, you look really cute with the skirt here! I like how your accessories – sunnies, belt and sandals all pair up.

  3. Girl, I love this look! I haven’t seen that skirt on topshop (well online). Are the shoes from Zara?
Btw your mom takes amazing photos- I am contemplating the tripod/self timer method.

We should hang out while you are in HK! I shouldn’t shop though… maybe stuffing our faces is a better alternative?

  4. hahaha, sorry that i laugh, but i can imagine that those shoes are not easy to walk! they look pretty hard and edgy! but i’m sure you still walk pretty elegant – and they rock!
