Island East Markets must have been the happiest place in Hong Kong for the past two months. Initiated by Hong Kong based food writer and blogger Janice Leung and Vincent Poon, Managing Director of EVOLVE, the market has managed to capture the attention of both eco-conscious consumers and mass media. I know it is again an untimely post as the market is now closed for the holidays. But a little birdy told me that it’ll come back by the end of January. So there’s something we can all look forward to!
I’ve only managed to take photos for two weeks of the market when I was volunteering as photographer. These are my personal highlights. Hope you like them! Do support eco-conscious business to make HK a better and healthier place to live.

Bathe to Basics Founder Gia and Creative Director/mascot Edmund. They make great soaps and do wonderful branding.
I must confess that I’m a sucker for all homemade soaps. I purchased the Basic No. 2 soap which contains no perfume. Believe it or not I’ve been using this soap for face and hair for a month now, and the result is beyond amazing. I’ve also tried out the Lavender, White Tea and Ginger Orange soap, great soaps but not recommended for face and hair.
The CArelendar project by Hong Kong Conservancy Association. Great concept and design. Your 2013 will look very green if you take one of these home!
