Vote for The Style Voyager’s Asos outfit!

Photographs by the one and only Carmen Chan

I can’t quite explain how a peaceful tea party turned out to be a best-outfit-competition. But I guess that’s the only way to engage all you lazy asses. So, without further adieu, I present you my tea party costume outfit. As expected, I went for statement pieces from head to toe, hopefully you don’t find them outshining each other.

A brief outfit breakdown – Chinese opera inspired extended sleeves top – I found the best way to wear it is to tie a loose knot with the sleeves at the back. It weighs down the drama and gives the look a very romantic finish; midi length pencil skirt with colour blocking – this should be a mid-calf length skirt but on me it’s almost ankle length. I seriously can’t care less because the colours are beautiful and the shape so very flattering. The brocade platform sandals are gorgeous and relatively comfortable to walk in; and how can one stop staring at that long polka dot clutch? Excuse my fox though, he just want to have some attention.

So are you convinced to vote for me, huh? Blink blink.

I’m just kidding : ) Go ahead and vote for the outfit you like the best, and win a £250 cash coupon to shop at asos.com! It takes only a few steps to vote so don’t get lazy on that. The competition lasts for 2 weeks. Don’t forget to check out everyone else’s blog and comment and rate!

ASOS x HK Fashion Bloggers Tea Party

All photos by the one and only Carmen Chan except the last one.

Let me tell you something first. A few months ago Asos contacted us for a standard affliate programme, asking us to put a banner on and in return earn a percentage from others’ purchases. I told Sam and Denise, in a blogger meet up, that it is stupid. (Sorry for being honest…) But asos has kept the options open and the creative genius Sam replied to that ever-so-standard email saying “Really?! Can we propose something else?” And it kicked off our 4-month communication and preparation with Asos. I can tell you that ALOT efforts are involved, ideas, time, physical challenges – I’m referring to weight lifting in particular, HK bloggers had accomplished a very unlikely task. See how creativity and persistence has made everything look so much better? Thank you Asos for being so open-minded and supportive!

What is it all about?

The original idea is to have a few HK fashion bloggers gather together for a afternoon meet up and tea sharing – beautiful food, beautiful decorations, bird cages, traditional China, a crazy amount of flowers and many more. The idea is to combine a relaxed and beautifully decorated backdrop to show off the clothes. At the later stage of the preparation, local creatives Carmen Chan and Nathan Wong were brought in for the post production. And thanks to that our efforts have been translated into pictures and moving images. Now watch this amazing video shot and edited by Nate and his crew.

Credits of the amazing video goes to Nate and his crew – Spade, Dion, andd Brendon.

Beautiful home courtesy of Tania : )
Special thanks to Vero Chocolate and Cafe Loisl for the delicious cakes!

I was a little overwhelmed by the preparation and didn’t actually spent much time enjoying myself. But I’m sure others did and the action of clicking on their stories is highly recommanded!

What is next?

What’s up next is that everyone of you is invited to participate and win a £250 asos cash coupon? Tempted? Read my next post to see how to get it!

Are we bored with summer yet?

Are we bored with summer yet?

Photographs by dear mom : )

(H&M blazer, Zara silk pants, Jeffrey Campbell heels via Free People, American Apparel bandeau and Asos clutch)

It took me lots of guts to wear a bandeau out. But it took even more for me to convince my mom that it is socially acceptable to do it. Nah, it’s okay, my mom’s pretty open-minded with that : P I was just a little insecure about the meatiness on my tummy… Anyways, this look was inspired by Sam from her styling section with Electric Sekki. Go check it here.

Sam was telling me how she is bored by Summer clothes. But the thing is in Hong Kong the temperature won’t drop until November, and wearing fall stuff in August seems fairly retarted. My approach here is to balance out the heaviness of the blazer and the long pants by wearing a bandeau on top. You can also wear summer silhouettes in fall colors – if you’re getting impatient with the dreadfully long summer.

I was never that pale during summer for a very long time. It looks almost unhealthy in the middle of the summer when everyone’s so tanned. I’m so desperate for a sunny afternoon on the beach.

Have a lovely sunny day!

How are you!? Finally it’s a day-off for the completely exhausted Voyager : P I slept for 12 hours straight and watched/rewatched 5 movies in a roll – nothing has ever felt so great! So my saturday movie list: The Lives of Others, The Pianist, The Children of Huang Shi, The Red Baron and Head in the Clouds. I know, quite a heavy playlist for saturday afternoon huh? Guess I’m just not the romantic comedy type when it comes to movies : P

Okay, outfit time! As you can see, I finally got myself a pair of Mariel! These shoes are amazing because they make the legs look so much longer, and this particular shade is so wearable and fun. I love how the snakeskin print looks so textured on the scarf. Oh and snakeskin’s gonna be big this fall and winter, don’t miss that out! The rest of the outfit is my work uniform because they are comfy and time saving. I mean, how much creativity is left there after 10 hours of working everyday?

What are your office staples?

Have a lovely weekend!

*This is a post dedicated for someone I’ve loved for a very long time : )

Okay. This photos-first-text-later thing on my blog is getting horrible, gonna stop doing that : P So, how are you guys?! I’m getting so many emails from you guys lately. It makes me feel bad that I can’t reply each of you on time. (Now I miss my time being a full-time blogger…) I hope I can figure out how to balance my work life and blog life very soon!

So… a hippie-inspired outfit! I received my Jeffrey Campbell Crosby platforms last week… OMG that are so amazing! Apart from being a little heavy for my miserable size 6 feet, they are incredibly comfortable and safe to walk in. (I’m 13cm taller with these babies on, and yea I can only wear these ridiculously long pants with an extra 13cm : l )  I’m trying out something new with my hair recently, mainly because I’m too lazy to go to the hair dresser and I don’t want my hairstyle to get stuck in time (the way my mom does to her hair.) Turban is probably not my thing though – what do you think?

Have a lovely day girls, a new post is up tomorrow!

Skyscrapers

Skyscrapers

(H&M blazer, clutch and chandelier necklace, vintage waistcoat from Prague, Monki dress, Asos.com boots.)

Ah it’s been a while, I hope you’re still with me : ) Spring has arrived in my city, and so far it’s been fairly nasty (according to Sam). The thing about Spring season in Hong Kong is that you want it so badly when it’s not here. But when it finally arrives you just want to get rid of it. With 95% relative humidity it feels like living in a steam room. The only difference is you can’t just step out of it and say to yourself – Thank God it’s over. : (

I got this “skyscraper” dress from Monki last year. I love the print so much but the quality of it has been quite a disappointment. (It’s the forth time I wore it and it has lost its shape already. I guess that’s the thing about fast fashion… ) I’m wearing this vintage wool waistcoat from Prague together with a H&M blazer over it. Accessories wise I’m wearing a (pretty broken) chandelier necklace and a studded clutch to brighten up the entire outfit. I hope you like this one!

Flowy white blazers are probably your best dress up companions for Spring. Love the almost cape-like blazer by Dsquared². The look was made impecable with the waistcoat and a maxi thigh slit skirt (and the lace details.); The blazers spotted in Brioni’s Spring collection looks crisp and well-tailored, a must-have style for the season; It’s time to gear up with bold prints, and the bolder the better. Love the playfulness in Sonia Rykiel’s Spring collection! Oh and don’t be afraid of matching them up with even bolder accessories!

Bea from You Got Me Sewn had made this slim Khaki maxi skirt herself and paired it up with a cute blazer. I like the shape of the skirt! And she looks picture perfect : ); I love how Erika Marie from Fashion Chalet can achieve simlicity at its finest! She looks breathtaking in the Marie Antoinette dress by Wildfox Couture. (I can’t post all the pictures here in full size so I suggest you to visit her blog!); And once again, Beth from B. Jones Style has inspired me with her springy blazer and pants with wild floral prints. Join her for a recent thrift adventure here!

Happy International Women’s Day! I’m sure you’ve been treating yourself very well for the day ; ) In the past century not only did we achieve equality in so many aspects, we’ve also managed to rock menswear in every possible way. (Yea I know guys are wearing wedges and skirts now… that’s totally self-inflicted by the way.)

My outfit consists of a bright red portfolio clutch, a pair of hot read heels and  some basic menswear elements (American apparel bodysuit, H&M shorts and Zara blazer). I like the simplicity. (Asos.com has some really cute clutches, definitely check those out!) And have yourself a very lovely day,  because you deserve it!

I love the styling of Dsquared² spring collection: the geek sunglasses, straw trilby and nerdy dress shoes. I also love Costume National’s spring show for the minimalistic clothes and super feminine accessories. On Paul Smith… well you know what we love about Paul Smith ; ) I guess the relation between menswear-inspired fashion and these dainty clutches is purely aesthetic, but one thing can be certain – clutch is the new bag.

I love Sam’s minimalistic chic with a pop of cobalt and the sleek high ponytail. (Go to her blog now!); Rosery necklace, leather pants and leopard print clutch, Cindy from Come Over to the Dark Side has put on just the perfect amount of rocker chic; Who plays with colour better than Clare from Rainbows and Fairy Dust? Her blog name has suggested it well enough ; )

We’ll live each day in Spring time.

(H&M 3D flower dress and leopard print scarf, Monki denim shirt, Unknown brand red wedges, Asos.com necklace and Nataliaraya sterling silver jewelry)

I was feeling springy the other day, so I put on my H&M LWD with 3D flowers details and a denim shirt over it. (It’s structured but it’s still a shirt. I couldn’t quite imagine myself in a denim jacket that’s why.) To acessories the outfit I put on my old red wedges and a scarf. It’s very simple, and I was surprise by how simplicity can be the cure of my recent worries. (a bit too much irrelevant information here.) Have a great day my friends.

BDBG Max Azria’s SS2011 RTW has a remarkable collection of textured white silk dresses, maxis and minis; one-shouldered and caped, with tonal chiffon and lace details. Frankie Morello’s Spring2011 is about playful summer denim and flowy chiffon, including this maxi Chambray shirt which is wore unbuttoned with a maxi chiffon dress. And this white one-piece from N°21 SS2011 collection, which offers a mixture of sportswear chic  and subtle feminity, is one of my favourites.

On the street I’m loving Jenny’s denim-on-floral – another impecable combination; AiB’s spot on accessories; and on Hallie, an elegant, more grown-up version of denim-on-white.

Have fun! Spring is just around the corner : D

(Monki peach shirt-dress, H&M slouchy cardigan and leopart print scarf, Forever21 ankle boots, Asos.com skinny belt and faceted heart necklace, H&M and Nataliaraya sterling silver jewelry.)

So this is the twisted version of my recent Chictopia front page outfit. I decided to shoot this again mainly because the photos are way too cold and depressing, but I’ve also made a few changes on the outfit itself.

I picked up this shirt-dress together with a few other items from Monki during my short stay (48hours) in Hong Kong. It is now one of my must-haves for Spring because of its versatility – You can wear it in so many ways without looking repetitive. I really like Monki’s affortable price range and its outside-the-box thinking. (I’m not a huge fan of the interior design of their HK store though, there’s hardly a mirror and the changing-rooms are scary.)

*One importance line to my dear fellow bloggers: I’m not able to browse your blog or leave comments because I have no access to all Blogger websites while staying in China. I’m gonna need some serious updates after the holiday : P* Have a lovely evening.

(Topshop salmon pink jumper, Asos.com sunglasses and pants, H&M leopard print scarf, Max oxford flats.)

As I said before, it’s time for a change! It’s not that I’m gonna throw away my Maxis and camels, but I need a bit of sanity with how I dress while spending time with my 80-year-old grandparents : )  I’m wearing this lovely lovely Topshop jumper and these dark blue harem-ish Asos pants. I’m wearing my leopard print scarf as belt (mainly for practical reason… I lost 5 pounds in Vienna!!) and it looks chic : ) As you can see I’m wearing these lovely oxford flats finally! They are so adorable and comfy.

Ohhh! Tonight is the Chinese New Year Eve, and guess what!!! The coming year is the Rabbit year!! It’s my year!! (If you’re not Chinese, and you have no clue what I’m talking about,  google Chinese Horoscope.) Can’t believe I’m gonna be 24 in the summer : o Time is mean : (

Okay, I’m gonna go, and I wish you Happy Chinese New Year! : )
