It’s a midwest kind of style.

Me and fellow blogger Sam went on a style hunt to Midwest Vintage last Friday. It is a trade showroom-turned clothing store specialising in vintage fashion and recycled designs with 18 years of history. If you live in Hong Kong and somewhat style-conscious, I’m sure you’re familiar with this brand.

Both Sam and I put together three outfits with items from their store. It’s a little pause to my regular outfit posts and I hope you enjoy it! (I’ll put a link to Sam’s outfits once she has them posted.)

The shop has a lovely selection of original handbags and accessories of great quality. I’ve never seens such a big collection of clutches anywhere else in Hong Kong. As a hopeless clutch addict I was feeling a bit dizzy : P The first outfit is my favourite. I had my eyes on this poncho/shawl for a while now. It has this lovely peacocky colour and fringe details, a perfect statement piece.

(Military boots, clutch and belt courtesy of Midwest Vintage, plaid shirt and cargo pants from Midwest Vintage, Zara top.)

The second outfit is boyish from head to toe. Sam and I had a great time exploring the menswear section. Not only is it three times the size of the womenswear section, it also has a great selection of clothing that would fit us girls perfectly. (Well Sam’s 5’8, but I’m only 5’3, not a bad news, huh!?) I bought the plaid shirt and the cargo pants because they are just the perfect staple pieces to add to my overly girly closet. Oh and these really cool military surplus boots come in almost all sizes at a affordable price.

(Denim jacket, dress, bag, fedora and lace up boots courtesy of Midwest Vintage, American Apparel tights.)

The third outfit is a little bit out of my style comfort zone, but I gave it a try anyways and I love it. This really cute dress is one of their vintage recreations, aka the First Edition. It was made from a vintage three-button Polo shirt, cut and reshaped into a sleeveless mini dress.  We also spotted some Dries Van Noten-ish jackets which were recreated from vintage biker jackets and sweaters. If you are one of those who likes the idea of eco-friendly and creative recycling, definitely check out this line.

Oh this is on the front page of Chictopia today! Thank you Chictopia!

Midwest Vintage is located in the Tian Hau area, there’s a well illustrated map on their website so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find them (unless your sense of orientation is even worse than mine..) If you still haven’t had a chance to visit their store, here is a sneak peek.

I’m back with a new outfit post! As I said before I’m trying different things out lately, I layered  a mini denim skirt on my go-to black maxi! It sounds funny but I think it’s a great way to add layers to your outfit! Firstly it adds a hint of denim blue to the black and white basics, and secondly the hard fabric of denim is a good mixture with the soft flowy black maxi and sheer top, it gives the entire outfit a solid texture. Love it so much! And the pouch is such a spot-on accessory for this minimalist look! I hope you enjoy this post, leave me a comment and let me know what you think : )

Once again the Frankie Morello’s Spring collection really makes me laugh. I love highway movie kind of setup for the show, and the “inside out, upside down” concept of designs, definitely an inspiration for my outfit; The Givenchy spring collection had opened my eyes for the possibilities of layering. First time in my life I feel justified with wearing two bottom pieces together (well leggings don’t count…); Antonio Marras’ Spring collection is so cheerful and fun. I love the subtle lace details  and the overall sheerness.

A black maxi skirt is like a blank canvas you can create almost any look with it. I found these fabulous stylings of slim-cut maxi skirts on Chictopia, they all looks so effortlessly chic! Visit their blogs for more info of the outfits. (And yes, I have a little girl crash on Jean Greige, please don’t tell her : S)

(I’m going to skip Get the look now section this time cox the post’s getting ridiculously long. You can find the items’ link in the text. Now, a track to brighten up your day!)

This months Video comes from Berlins superwoman Ellen Allien. Everybody who is just slightly into electronic music should have came across that name couple of times before. Founding her own Recordlabel, hosting Radio Shows, constantly Djing in all significant clubs worldwide, releasing Albums and Remixes and even running her own Fashion Label she really has a reputation of her own. Here we got her latest track which is featured on “Werkschau” a compilation of her BPitch Control record label which also features tracks by Paul Kalkbrenner or Sascha Funke. enjoy! tituz

We’ll live each day in Spring time.

(H&M 3D flower dress and leopard print scarf, Monki denim shirt, Unknown brand red wedges, Asos.com necklace and Nataliaraya sterling silver jewelry)

I was feeling springy the other day, so I put on my H&M LWD with 3D flowers details and a denim shirt over it. (It’s structured but it’s still a shirt. I couldn’t quite imagine myself in a denim jacket that’s why.) To acessories the outfit I put on my old red wedges and a scarf. It’s very simple, and I was surprise by how simplicity can be the cure of my recent worries. (a bit too much irrelevant information here.) Have a great day my friends.

BDBG Max Azria’s SS2011 RTW has a remarkable collection of textured white silk dresses, maxis and minis; one-shouldered and caped, with tonal chiffon and lace details. Frankie Morello’s Spring2011 is about playful summer denim and flowy chiffon, including this maxi Chambray shirt which is wore unbuttoned with a maxi chiffon dress. And this white one-piece from N°21 SS2011 collection, which offers a mixture of sportswear chic  and subtle feminity, is one of my favourites.

On the street I’m loving Jenny’s denim-on-floral – another impecable combination; AiB’s spot on accessories; and on Hallie, an elegant, more grown-up version of denim-on-white.

I’m feeling…off the shoulder

I’m feeling…off the shoulder

Photographs by tituz

I love maxi hemlines, but this one was a floor-sweeping experience : P
I’m wearing an one shoulder maxi dress (which you don’t really see the should here.. ) with a denim coloured shirt over it. The short torso-torso-long-legged look is very chic in my opinion. But what I love most about this outfit is definitely the off shoulder look of the blazer, I feel very powerful for some reasons. By the way I’ve managed to resist the coldness and to look grumpy in every shot. I’m going pro. Enjoy!
