Everyone in the city, including myself, seems a bit annoyed by the unexpected chilly and long winter in Hong Kong. When having no clue about what to wear, I always go for a pop of colour and a simple pencil skirt. It’s reassuring to know there’s always something that can work the magic. Hopefully the weather will get warmer in no time, and we can all kick start the new season very soon!

Ports 1961 launched their Spring Summer 2014 collection in Hong Kong last week at ArtisTree. The brand created an almost museum exhibition experience for visitors and for a second I believed those are beautiful art works on display.

The Women’s Collection designed by Fiona Cibani was inspired by Michaelangelo Antonion’s 1970 film Zabriskie Point. The designer draws on panoramic photographic vistas of desert, sun and sky to express the free spirit of adventure with her Spring/ Summer2014 Collection. The entire collection seems to be made for someone like me, the sporty cut, the really feminine dresses and skirts and the beautiful heeled sandals – can’t wait to see the new season in store! Check out more about their Spring Summer collection here.

Cos top and skirt, Zara sandals and clutch, H&M cuff.

I visited the Cos store on Queen’s Road many times since it was opened in Hong Kong, but my first purchase from them only took place at their current summer sale. Just because they don’t do any fancy sequined cocktail dress, I categorized them as “pricey-minimalistic-casual-wear”  and haven’t been motivated enough to buy anything. But I realized the thing about Cos designs is that every item has a understated chic element in it which makes them well-worth the price over time. I hope you are not getting dizzy from looking at my multi-faceted clutch and my printed skirt (Coz my mom totally did.) Speak soon!

The Dream Outfit

Zara top and skirt, Topshop necklace, & Other Stories sandals, Hong Kong boutique jacket and clutch, Edge of Ember cuff.

I titled this The Dream Outfit because I literally dreamt about this outfit before actually finding all the items in the market. It’s a combination of everything I love – mint and gold, flowy chiffon, sportswear elements, wooden sandals, more mint and more gold… Perfection. What’s your dream outfit for summer?

Someone else’s story

REISS Alla Dress, H&M faux leather mesh top and shades, Hong Kong boutique spring jacket, & other Stories heels.

Sometimes it is amazing how different ways of styling can tell completely different stories about a piece. The classic and feminine Alla dress is a perfect outfit on its own, but I find it more fun and urban to layer an edgy mesh top over it. It is one of those outfits that are difficult to deconstruct at the first glance, but who doesn’t love an unexpected combination!?

Tempted by H&M’s new line & other Stories, which is currently available in selected European countries only, I asked my cousin in Amsterdam to “smuggle” a few pieces into Hong Kong. (You know it’s time to call up that one friend you have in the UK and ask for a favor!) I’m very happy with my first purchase, especially these heeled sandals. Will try to post the rest of my purchases in upcoming posts. Speak soon!

Topshop faux leather jacket, Zara shirt and shorts, Sleeh.com shoes and Edge of Ember cuff.

The weather in Hong Kong has been gloomy since forever. So this is my way to brighten up the days! Wearing my trusted Topshop faux leather jacket and Zara porcelain print shirt. Also on my favourite list are the cobalt blue shorts that every girl should own and the bright orange heels from Sleeh.com. Have a nice day!

Zara top and shoes, Topshop skirt and printed top and clutch from local boutiques.

If you bump into me on the street these days, I will most likely to be wearing something like this. My go-to outfit has shifted from flowy top and body hugging bottoms to lose-fitting top and structured bottoms and I’ve come to appreciate the simplicity in such combination. Vivid orange has always been my favorite color, it just brightens up everything. (Proof and proof). The black and white printed top and Zara heels put the whole outfit together. Simple and chic. Talk soon!

Happy 2013!

I hope you’ve spent a great holiday with family and friends! I should have at least smiled on a HNY post.Well, too late now.

I’m wearing my newest purchase from Topshop, a lightweight oversized duster jacket. The jacket is quite useless at keeping you warm but the loose cut allows tons of layering underneath. I am not a fan of fitted outerwear. What’s the point of outerwear if you can’t layer like a onion?

I took away the leather stripe and faux fur should pad on my Zara boxy messenger bag and wore it as a briefcase/men clutch. It makes beautiful contrast with the curves on the skirt. Hope you like this outfit!

(H&M top and skirt, Topshop coat and heels.)

This is an attempt to incorporate a scale skirt from last season into my early spring outfit. It was one of my favorite purchases from last winter, so over-the-top and pretty. To avoid looking too obviously last season, I had it paired with a sporty jersey shirt with sleek silver collar and my furry “transformer” Topshop coat from last year. The two-toned high court heels are gorgeous but staggeringly painful to wear. Finally a quick tip for shooting indoor with uneven lighting – use a reflector to avoid corpse-looking legs like mine : P

Talk to you soon!

(All from Zara.)

Hi.

When I uploaded my last blog post, I was talking about how 2012 would be a great year for blogging. But since then I disappeared from the blogoshere (though being more active than ever on twitter), leaving some of my viewers totally confused. I apologize for that : ( I’ve been caught up by work, (actually more like fascinated by work,) and could not spare the energy for blogging.

Many of you may already know that I’ve recently joined a well-established contemporary conceptual art gallery in Hong Kong. It’s been a few challenging months and contemporary art is such a different world from what I used to know, and I couldn’t begin to describe how amazing the experiences I’ve had so far. The feeling of finally figured out what you want to do is truly amazing. Life will be even more busy when Master program begins in March. But I hope I can bring you a blog post at least once a week. And once again thank you for the comments and emails you guys sent me while I was away.

You might have seen all these items in your local Zara. I highly recommend these vivid green wedges, they are so beautiful and comfortable to walk in. But make sure you’re quick since they’re already flying off the shelves. The floral blouse is a bit on the pricier side. I’ve worn it for 3 times and it’s already breaking apart at the seams, so, a lovely piece to stand in. When I purchased the skirt I thought it’s gonna be adorable. But turns out the front cuts off at a unflattering length, making my thighs look thicker than usual. But I cannot deny that the cut looks sublime at the back.

So much for today, till next time : D
