Dizzy Dizzy

Photographs by the best mom in the universe (as requested by her)

Cos top and skirt, Zara sandals and clutch, H&M cuff.

I visited the Cos store on Queen’s Road many times since it was opened in Hong Kong, but my first purchase from them only took place at their current summer sale. Just because they don’t do any fancy sequined cocktail dress, I categorized them as “pricey-minimalistic-casual-wear”  and haven’t been motivated enough to buy anything. But I realized the thing about Cos designs is that every item has a understated chic element in it which makes them well-worth the price over time. I hope you are not getting dizzy from looking at my multi-faceted clutch and my printed skirt (Coz my mom totally did.) Speak soon!

The Dream Outfit

Mint01Mint06Mint05Mint02Mint03Photographs by the best mom on earth.

Zara top and skirt, Topshop necklace, & Other Stories sandals, Hong Kong boutique jacket and clutch, Edge of Ember cuff.

I titled this The Dream Outfit because I literally dreamt about this outfit before actually finding all the items in the market. It’s a combination of everything I love – mint and gold, flowy chiffon, sportswear elements, wooden sandals, more mint and more gold… Perfection. What’s your dream outfit for summer?

Floral prints and vivid green.

Hi.

When I uploaded my last blog post, I was talking about how 2012 would be a great year for blogging. But since then I disappeared from the blogoshere (though being more active than ever on twitter), leaving some of my viewers totally confused. I apologize for that : ( I’ve been caught up by work, (actually more like fascinated by work,) and could not spare the energy for blogging.

Many of you may already know that I’ve recently joined a well-established contemporary conceptual art gallery in Hong Kong. It’s been a few challenging months and contemporary art is such a different world from what I used to know, and I couldn’t begin to describe how amazing the experiences I’ve had so far. The feeling of finally figured out what you want to do is truly amazing. Life will be even more busy when Master program begins in March. But I hope I can bring you a blog post at least once a week. And once again thank you for the comments and emails you guys sent me while I was away.

You might have seen all these items in your local Zara. I highly recommend these vivid green wedges, they are so beautiful and comfortable to walk in. But make sure you’re quick since they’re already flying off the shelves. The floral blouse is a bit on the pricier side. I’ve worn it for 3 times and it’s already breaking apart at the seams, so, a lovely piece to stand in. When I purchased the skirt I thought it’s gonna be adorable. But turns out the front cuts off at a unflattering length, making my thighs look thicker than usual. But I cannot deny that the cut looks sublime at the back.

So much for today, till next time : D

Sorry guys, it’s been like a week without new posts. It was raining for a while but now we have officially entered the beautiful fall : D I can feel the cool air running through my palms, leaving behind a feeling that is so satisfying but somehow unsettling. But we all know that this is gonna be the one month in a year, when life is beautiful no matter what.

Layering a shirt underneath a short-sleeve top is what I’d like to call the “librarian” look. It’s something I tend to avoid because with the wrong combination of textures, it will look extremely geeky and old-fashioned. It would take something heavy and chic like velvet to bring this look together, and I found just the right item in Zara yesterday!

As I was strolling down the street, I noticed how people stare at my half-way tucked in shirt. Though I do think a little bit of messiness differentiates fashion bloggers from runway models, I couldn’t help but dwell on the line  from The Picture of Dorian GrayShe tried to look picturesque, but only succeeded in being untidy. Hmm.. whatever.

Oh, and thank you for those who voted for the Asos outfits! Love you all : 3

Okay, this is just gonna be a quick post on my birthday outfit. I ordered this DVF dress especially for my birthday! Personally I  think it’s a very pretty dress, the only problem was the size 2 dress is way too big for me I had to ask my mom to chop off 3 inches… ( sorry Ms. DVF, I didn’t mean to alter your design. But I’m kind of a midget you know.. ) The Asos clutch is lovely and I would probably order it in another colour.

By the way, thank you again everyone for the lovely gifts! I’ve never received so many birthday gifts in my life as my birthday was always in the summer holiday back in school days : P Thank you so much, I’m absolutely in love with everything that was gifted to me!

I really really wish I can have the time to write more, reply comments and emails… but at the moment it’s just kinda difficult : ( I hope you had a lovely weekend!

It has been a very busy and depressing week for me, for a few days I had the feeling that I just lost control of my own life. But there are moments in life when friends and family can really save you life, and I’m genuinely grateful for their kind words and patients . (And I know I should have spent more time with these people who has always been there for me..)

Okay I almost forget this is a fashion-related blog : P

The color-blocking trends has finally died down – there were quite some out-of-our-minds moments this Spring Summer and I’m glad that we’re all sane again : P The colors are still around, but much muted in the late summer. I found this blouse in a local fast fashion store (Maple f.y.i.) for only HK$109, but I quite like the material and the cut. (Though I’m pretty sure it’s a copy from something much pricier.) I wasn’t sure about wearing anything green because they look tacky against my skin color, but for some reason this shade of green works pretty well. This outfit is definitely a personal favourite : )

Big thanks to Liyo for making these photos! They are really great : )

Have a great day : ) Stay happy and inspired! (Cheesy)

Layering with Parka.

Layering with Parka.

Photographs by dear mom : )

(Zara parka, Monki denim shirt, Vintage mens plaid shirt from Prague, Jeffrey Campbell wedges and Topshop hot pants.)

Lately I’ve been trying different things out, for example, a parka. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this is the first time I put on a parka (mainly because my mom used to call it the homeless jacket).  It’s so versatile and comfortable I don’t ever want to take it off again. (Which makes me wonder if the homeless people actually put on their parka before or after they became homeless.. you see what I mean?) – Alright, that’s a lot of useless information.
Back to the outfit, I’m wearing the parka over a denim shirt over a plaid shirt. It’s a bit bulky to layer on three button-up tops so I went bare-legged to balance it out (and in case you’re wondering, I had pants on!) I hope you enjoy this post!

Runway inspirations

I really like the whole sportswear trend, I’m not a sporty girl but it looks fun and chic. My outfit was pretty much inspired by the Dior Spring 2011 opening look by Karlie Kloss, minus the flirty sailor effect. (The fact that there won’t be another Galliano+Karlie Kloss opening for Dior is killing me… ) I’m also loving this sportmax coat, and the flat platform sandals and knitted socks combination by Michael Kors. (Angelica if you’re reading… it’s just a personal taste thing ; ) I love your blog!)

Jean Greige is probably my new favourite in the style blogosphere cause she’s a natural. Love her shoes and ankle socks in this outfit! (Go to her blog now for this really fun DIY turbeanie tutorial!); Don’t know about you guys, but I’d been following The Vintage Society, Beth’s “previous” website, for many years before she started B. Jones Style. She’s such a inspiration for me, and this army green maxi looks perfect on her; I love how Hallie can pull off such a huge amount of leopard prints. It’s very lovely photo, and you know what!? Chinese girls are pretty amazing : P
